Bainbridge Human Orca Mural

June 8, 2019 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Be a Part of Something BIG!
Gather with your neighbors to practice some artful activism and be a part of our very own Human Orca Mural. We need 100 people or more so your RSVP really matters!

Put on black clothing and grab your black umbrella, we’ll mobilize into a pattern that, from the air, will form the picture of an Orca. Drone photo/video will capture that image and help spread the word of how our Orcas and our Salmon really need help right now.

Bring extra black umbrellas if you have them in case anyone forgets theirs.

This event is sponsored by Backbone Campaign, Sustainable Bainbridge, Orca Action Month and in conjunction with the Boaters Fair of Bainbridge.

Last July, when Orca mother Tahlequah carried her dead calf with her for 17 days, she and her Southern Resident pod alerted us all to the urgency of their plight. We need to restore chinook salmon runs. This Human Orca Mural is a simple, yet powerful, way for us to connect with others who share our values of love and protection for these iconic species.

See you there! And bring your friends! All ages welcome. Please arrive on time so we can promptly gather in the big Orca shaped grid, take lots of pictures, and be on our way within an hour.

Help kick off Orca Action Month (https://orcamonth.wordpress.com/events/).

Come early and check out the Boater’s Fair at Waterfront Park from 10am to 2pm (https://www.facebook.com/events/378638886071321/).

And celebrate World Ocean’s Day (https://www.worldoceansday.org).
