Families Stay Together: Playdate Protest & Nurse-in Against Child Detention

August 12, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Join us as we fight family separation, child detention, and the criminalization of migration. We will bring our demands to our federal representatives, who will be home from DC on a state work period. All families, especially those with children, welcome.

We will have plenty of baby/kid/caregiver-friendly things available: water, snacks, a diaper changing station, toddler potties, an art activity, bubbles, music, chairs for nursing, and more. We will end before naptime.

We demand an immediate end to the criminalization of migration, the detention of asylum seekers, the separation of children from their families, the profiteering off human suffering, the mass incarceration of migrants without trial, and the privatization of the detention system.

Senator Patty Murray has hypocritically called for an end to family separation while receiving funds from the private prison company that runs the Northwest Detention Center in Tacoma. We must hold her accountable. https://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/politics/sen-patty-murray-received-donations-from-private-immigration-prison-firms/

Please also join us for a sign making party at Cal Anderson Park on Saturday! https://m.facebook.com/events/1150630248443010?ti=icl
