IMPORTANT UPDATE! Requiem for the bees planned for Sunday May 5th. With special guests: Suquamish members and sacred drummers Sacred Water Canoe Family will join us to sing, drum, and bless the bee funeral. The Requiem for the bees will begin on our farm on Old Eaglemount road near Port Townsend at noon. Short road, follow the signs. We will hold a short presentation about our status as polinator protectors with several important non-profits. Then we will proceed to Port Townsend. The funeral procession will meet at Haller Fountain in Port Townsend at 2 PM. We will walk in a procession to the water front park. We will carry the remains of our last hive with us. At Water Front Park you will hear from members of the Jefferson County Coalition to End Aerial Spraying…Now known as The Jefferson County Environmental Coalition. You will also hear from members of the Kitsap Environmental Coalition. We have merged our coalitons to fight the destruction of an entire ecosystem. Also joining us is Suquamish members and sacred drummers Sacred Water Canoe Family will join us to sing, drum, and bless the bee funeral. Widespread clear-cutting and aerial and backpack spraying is happening all over the two counties. Loss of pollinators, wildlife, watershed, wells, springs, creeks, rivers Salmon habitat and the habitat of the Salish Sea is happening. We must get up off our begging knees and act now.

It is a sad day on the farm. The last of our honeybees hives has been Destroyed. We had five working hives until the aerial spraying started last August by the industrial forest company, Pope Resources (AKA Olympic Resources). Four hives were destroyed last year. The bees are wide area foragers and likely brought the poisons back to the hives. Our fruit orchards have no pollinators. How can humans let this happen? Don’t we want food? Don’t we care about all creatures great and small? It’s called Biocide folks. And our government and we the people allow it.
