Green New Deal Support
February 6 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Hosted by Anna Mockler
Our representative, Derek Kilmer, is concerned about the environment. We aim to convince him to support the Green New Deal — or at least, to establish a Select Committee to establish draft legislation, identify funding sources, and basically do the work so that we can hit the ground running when power returns to the people. Reps Ocasio-Cortez and Markey are unveiling a new version of the Green New Deal earlier in the week.
As presidential hopefuls begin to announce their candidacies and our new Congress works to define their priorities, this is a key moment to keep up the pressure for real climate leadership and a Green New Deal. We’ve already seen the power of activists mobilizing in the halls of Congress to change the future of climate politics and make the Green New Deal a possibility. Let’s keep it up.
That’s why on February 6th, we’re joining a national day of action and bringing the call for real climate leadership to Representative Derek Kilmer’s doorstep. We will ramp up our call for a Green New Deal by publicly calling on our elected leaders to commit to a just and equitable world powered by sustainable energy, living wage green jobs, free and fair elections, and a safety net for all — by endorsing the Green New Deal.
We’ll assemble peaceably in front of Norm Dicks on Wednesday, February 6, at 4:00 PM. We’ll discuss the Green New Deal, then move up to Rep. Kilmer’s office on the 5th floor to deliver petitions calling on him to step up and be the real climate leader we need.
