Zoom Postcards on Wednesday

April 15, 2020 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

We miss your good company, so Indivisible Bainbridge Island is putting together its first Postcards on Wednesday via Zoom, so we can still write postcards together!

We send out invitations to the Zoom meeting a few days before the meeting. The email contains all the information you need to join the Zoom meeting on your desktop computer or smart phone for free. If you’re not sure if you’re on our Postcards on Wednesday email list, send an email to Kathy to check.

If you need materials, stop by Holly’s house (8824 NE New London Court, BI, near Finch and Wyatt) to pick up postcards, stamps and addresses from the box on Holly’s porch. There’s no need to arrange a day or time.

Even if you can’t join our Zoom get-together, stop by for materials to write on your own at home. Holly will also email addresses to you upon your email request. She’ll even order stamps for you for delivery to your house upon your email request.

We’ll have addresses for the Florida Vote By Mail campaign.

Ever wonder if it’s worthwhile to write postcards? Here is what Tony the Democrat (who runs postcardstovoters.org, where we get many of our address lists) recently wrote of the Florida VBM campaign:

“Based on turnout for the 2016 General Election, looking at so-called “hot” Democratic voters, VBM voters were 5% MORE likely to cast their ballots than non-VBM ones. (A “hot” voter for the purposes of this study was someone who voted in both the 2012 and 2014 General elections.) Among “warm” Dems, the increase among VBM voters was 34%. Looking at just the turnout from “cold” voters, (those who had NOT voted in EITHER 2012 or 2014 General elections), VBM turnout was 174% higher than the non-VBM voters! And finally, among brand new voters with no past history, but they were registered Democrats, when they voted by mail, they were 47% more likely to do so than their non-VBM peers.”

We need sponsors to chip in with cash donations for stamps to keep the project going. Please consider donating! Send a donation to our Indivisible chair, Holly Brewer, at 8824 NE New London Court, Bainbridge Island, WA 98110. We thank the generous people who have already donated!
