Port of Seattle Commissioner’s Meeting – Stop Cruise Expansion

January 7, 2020 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

The Port of Seattle is rushing ahead to build a 3rd cruise ship terminal next to the Pioneer Square district of Seattle. This would dramatically increase our region’s GHG emissions, reducing our chances of meeting climate targets needed to keep global temperature rise below 2 degrees C.

Cruise ship exhaust also contains carcinogens leading to higher rates of asthma and other respiratory illnesses in port communities. Ship traffic harms marine life (whales, salmon, etc.), and destroys the fabric of indigenous cultures and small coastal cities.

Please come to the Port Commissioner meeting and express your concerns about the negative impact of cruise ships on local communities and the global ecosystem. The location of the meeting will either be at Pier 69 in Seattle. If you plan to offer public comment, it is suggested that you arrive no later than 11:45 a.m. in order to sign in.
