Seattle Says #NeverAgainIsNow!

August 8, 2019 @ 3:30 pm - 6:00 pm

Join us Thursday, August 8 starting at 3:30 pm; exact location announced as we get closer.

#NeverAgain Means Never Again for Anyone.

TO JOIN US! …and potentially VOLUNTEER FOR A ROLE, fill out this form (we will prioritize contacting folks about unfilled roles): https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSelQfL6Rg61L9u7qlZdnnBT9A5b7uPvGoQUx3rEZDivpsJrbQ/viewform?usp=sf_link

Jews from different religious affiliations, backgrounds, and organizations are coming together in unprecedented ways to rally, march, and take nonviolent action together across the country — because what the US government is doing at the border and in immigrant communities is nothing short of an atrocity. Now, Seattle is coming together.

#JewsAgainstICE
#NuncaMásParaNadie

We are demanding dignity, safety, and freedom at our borders and in our communities. We’ve seen this groundwork laid before, and we were taught to never let anything like this happen again. White Christian nationalism is on the rise targeting people of color, immigrants, Jews, and Muslims.

We refuse to be divided. We will fight together, in partnership with local frontline communities, La Resistencia and the Washington Immigrant Solidarity Network.

We invite any Jew, immigrant, or ally who is outraged about the horrific treatment of immigrants in and around this country to join us in this act of resistance, sincerely believing that we can be strong and powerful together — even and especially when we show up, shoulder to shoulder, with folks who hold different positions on other political issues.

#NeverAgainIsNow – SEATTLE AGREEMENTS
In all moments, we remember why we are here and we will engage in ways that do not detract from the purpose of this action.
— Our action will be led by Jews and immigrants who will hold all public facing roles; allies are welcome to participate.
— Non-violent civil disobedience means: We will use no violence, verbal or physical, toward any person. We will not destroy or damage any property.
We ask everyone participating to commit to these and the other agreements + understandings posted below. Read ’em + agree to them so we can be powerful together.

ACCESSIBILITY
— The space is downtown in front of a building with decent condition curb-cuts at both corners of the block. There is a wide stretch of flat street going North-South, but East-West cross streets are steep.

— Nearby buses: 5, 12, 24, 28E, 26E, 27, 33, 40, 41, 62, 70, 101, 120, 150, 522E, 550E, 554E, 577, 578, 594, C, D, and E lines.

— There will be a group of Accessibility Marshalls available for supporting folks around problem solving around access or mobility.

— There will also be medics available for any emergent concerns.

— There will folding chairs available for anyone who needs to sit during the rally.

— The space is outside and thus, we can’t ensure scent but we do ask that folks avoid spraying perfume/other scents and smoking nearby the rally.

— We are working to make ASL interpreting available. Please email Shelbyhandler@gmail.com to let us know if you need ASL interpreting or have any other access requests or questions.

— We are working to have water and snacks available but please bring some for yourself and others if you’re able!
