Seattle Volunteers LNG Resistance Gathering
December 5 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
There’s lots of ways to help us keep up the pressure on decision makers and spread public awareness about the proposed Tacoma LNG refinery and storage facility- so join 350 Seattle, Sierra Club & Power Past Fracked Gas for an LNG Resistance Gathering designed for Seattle area volunteers!
After getting up to date on where the fight is at, learn about all the ways to plug in, and be a part of defeating this terrible project!
Snacks provided, and children welcome!
We expect Puget Sound Clean Air Agency (PSCAA) to announce a decision on the final permit for the proposed Tacoma LNG fracked gas storage, refinery and bunkering facility to happen in the upcoming days or weeks. Although they had announced intent to approve the permit before the most recent public comment period even opened, this fight is far from over! The data used in PSCAA’s analysis is over a decade old, relies on industry data and impossible to enforce conditions such as all the gas for the lifetime of the project only coming from one area in Canada. The agency has also refused the numerous requests made by the Puyallup Tribe of Indians to engage in meaningful consultation.
We call on Governor Inslee to live up to his recent words about the WA permit process, stating he has applied “the best science and strictest environmental reviews to new projects seeking to locate in our state” by urging the Dept of Ecology to take over as lead agency on the Tacoma LNG project instead of the City of Tacoma, hopefully ensuring that our community health, safety, and climate are prioritized.
