Social and Climate Justice Song Teach-in

October 24, 2019 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Join us to learn original songs written for these times of change, empower yourself as a song leader and/or join in with other voices.

All people are welcome. We believe that group singing can shift the tone of the atmosphere and also within ourselves. And Seattle needs us to sing. We want to infuse our movement with music.

Please note: The purpose of this space is to learn songs from one another, you do NOT need to bring a song in order to be a part of this space.

Very important if you are bringing songs to share, make sure either:
-you wrote it
-or it comes from social movements from your ancestors
-or you asked the writer if you could share and they said yes
-AND you can knowingly explain the origins of the song

Location:
All Pilgrims the “Weld Room”
509 10th Ave East (this is the address to the back door of the church – someone will be there to greet you. Then go up a half flight of stairs, left down the hall and the “Weld Room” will be the last door on the right.

WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE through the FRONT door of church and then the sanctuary to arrive at the “Weld Room”

Please email Ahlay with any questions or concerns or if you feel like having a contact number would be helpful: blakely.ale@gmail.com

The People’s Echo is a Seattle based song circle community for social and climate justice focussed folx.
The intention of the space is to empower people to bring more music to their communities, to the streets, to direct actions, to protests, to City Halls and beyond. We hope to empower song leaders and inspire all voices of all types to join as one voice.
We meet once a month to learn NEW songs for our movement. The songs brought to teach or share are original songs that can be used as powerful tools for change. Songs that are simple, easily learned or taught, accessible to the masses, 4-8 lines max, unison, no layers, inviting for folx to join in, catchy, something that may get stuck in people’s heads. Think repetitive melodies.
