Speak out for more affordable ADU housing

May 31, 2018 @ 4:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Seattle’s housing crisis is also a climate crisis: if we don’t build lots of affordable housing—and fast!—more and more people will be homeless or forced into high-carbon suburban commutes.

The city’s plan for ADUs (aka Accessory Dwelling Units otherwise known as “Backyard cottages” and “Mother-in-law apartments”) is expected to result in a trickle of available housing. We need to change the policy so that it will be more akin to a flood—and also more affordable and more equitable. Please show up and comment in favor of policies that will build more, and more affordable, ADUs fast, and make staying (and providing housing for others!) possible for homeowners who might otherwise be forced out of town by Seattle’s high cost of living. This can be a win for everyone if it’s done right!

We will update this event with talking points shortly, but meanwhile, please hold the date!

The open house will begin at 5:30 p.m. and the public hearing will begin at 6:30 p.m. Come early, around 4:30 to sign up to comment.
