Voices of the Majority-8/18/17

Monday evening’s vigil in memory of Heather Heyer was moving, inspiring, motivating.

As is this brief statement from Heather’s father:

Let’s gather this Friday from 4:30 to 6:30 in the conference room at OfficeXpats to write cards, send faxes, post comments, make calls, and craft letters to the editor that we can send to counter the hateful rhetoric coming from the alt-right.

Two specific actions we can focus on are:
Remove White Supremacists from the White House
This week’s white supremacist marches made the influence and approval of these groups from the White House even more apparent. In particular, Steve Bannon, Sebastian Gorka, and Steven Miller are supporters of white supremacist or nazi ideologies and should be removed.

Contact our representative and senators to call for the resignation of these three men.

Stop the Far-Right Media Expansion
The FCC prevents media companies from local broadcasting in more than 39% of the US market to avoid monopolistic propaganda. Through an obscure loophole the FCC may approve a merger making the far-right media company Sinclair Broadcasting able to reach a whopping 72% of the market.

Contact FCC Chairman Ajit Pai to oppose the pro-Trump Sinclair media monopoly.

Reminder: This Thursday evening 8/17, congressman Derek Kilmer will host an advocacy training program in Bremerton. The FB event.

Rep. Kilmer and guests will discuss ways we can stay politically active and productive under the current presidential administration.
