Door-knocking in Bremerton for Democratic 2022 candidates

May 31, 2022 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Join Indivisible Bainbridge Island and North Kitsap Indivisible for door-knocking in Bremerton every weekend and Tuesday on behalf of Democrats Emily Randall, who is running for re-election as LD 26’s state senator, and Adison Richards and Matthew Macklin, who are running to be the state representatives for LD 26.

In these early weeks of door-knocking we’re re-connecting with registered voters after two years of pandemic.

Emily won her first election in 2018 by just 104 votes. She has concentrated on health care and education in her first term in office. This year, she introduced and got passed these bills:

  • SB 5789, Creating the Washington career and college pathways innovation challenge program.
  • SB 6781, Requiring employers to provide wage and salary information in job postings.
  • SB 5488, Reducing the toll on the Tacoma Narrows bridge by 75 cents.
  • SB 5068, Improving maternal health outcomes by extending coverage during the postpartum period.
  • SB 5288, Addressing disproportionate health outcomes by building a foundation of equity in medical training.
  • SB 5763, Eliminating sub-prevailing wage certificates for individuals with disabilities.

And those are just a few of the bills Emily has worked on in her first term.

Emily’s opponent is Jesse Young, current state representative for Bremerton. Young is leaving that position to run for senator. This year, Young introduced HB 2121, a 15-week abortion ban. Thanks to the narrow Democratic majority in the House, the bill went nowhere, but we cannot afford to be complacent! For some reason, attempting a coup has given Republicans a ton of energy.

Adison Richards is running to fill the seat Jesse Young is abandoning with his run for the Senate. As a lawyer for the Northwest Justice Richards knows a lot about our state’s justice system. He has seen that improving education leads to starting small businesses that create better jobs.

Matthew Macklin is running against GOP incumbent House Representative Michelle Caldier. His top issue is access to health care and better jobs.

These are the best days for canvassing! We’re having serious conversations with voters about how they got through the pandemic and what their concerns/issues are now. We’re also cleaning up the database and noting people who have moved or are no longer with us. We are laying the foundation for a successful 2022 in Kitsap County. Please join us!

We are meeting at Starbucks in the Safeway store at 900 N Callow in Bremerton at 10 am to pick up your lists, get training and learn about Minivan, a fantastic tool that makes canvassing easy.

Talking with actual voters is guaranteed to make you feel better about 2022!
