Saturday Door-knocking in Bremerton for Democrats

April 23, 2022 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

Indivisible Bainbridge Island and North Kitsap Indivisible are door-knocking every Saturday and Wednesday on behalf of Democrats Emily Randall, who is running for re-election as LD 26’s state senator, and Adison Richards and Matthew Macklin who are running to be the state representatives for LD 26. In these early weeks of door-knocking we’re re-connecting with registered voters after two years of pandemic.

Emily won her first election in 2018 by just 104 votes. She has concentrated on health care and education in her first term in office. This year, she introduced and got passed these bills:

  • SB 5789, Creating the Washington career and college pathways innovation challenge program.
  • SB 6781, Requiring employers to provide wage and salary information in job postings.
  • SB 5488, Reducing the toll on the Tacoma Narrows bridge by 75 cents.
  • SB 5068, Improving maternal health outcomes by extending coverage during the postpartum period.
  • SB 5288, Addressing disproportionate health outcomes by building a foundation of equity in medical training.
  • SB 5763, Eliminating sub-prevailing wage certificates for individuals with disabilities.

And that’s just a few of the bills Emily worked on this year.

Emily’s opponent is Jesse Young, a current state representative for LD 26. Young introduced HB 2121, a 15-week abortion ban.

Adison Richards is running to fill the seat Jesse Young is abandoning, and Matthew Macklin is running against GOP incumbent Michelle Caldier.

These are the best days for canvassing! We’re having serious conversations with voters about how they got through the pandemic and what their concerns/issues are now. We’re also cleaning up the database and noting people who have moved or are no longer with us. We are laying the foundation for a successful 2022 in Kitsap County. Please join us!

We are carpooling and meeting at the front door of the Clearwater Casino at the intersection of Suquamish Way and Highway 305 at 9:15 am on Saturdays and at 2:15 pm on Wednesdays. Email Carollynn at least one day before a canvass to join the carpool or to meet up at the beginning of the canvass. Right now, we’re door-knocking in Bremerton but will likely be moving toward Gig Harbor as we head into summer.

Talking with actual voters is guaranteed to make you feel better about 2022!
