Democratic Party Town Hall – Hosted by What’s Next

Local advocacy group What’s Next will host a town hall focused on the status of the Democratic Party on Sunday, March 4 from 2:00-4:00pm at the Greenwood Senior Center. *This event is not endorsed or organized by the Democratic Party.*

Just over one year after Donald Trump’s inauguration, What’s Next is providing a space for Democrats, Independents, and everyone in between to come together and discuss the future of progressive politics. What’s Next believes in practical optimism and the power of a strong Democratic party, yet the worsening divide within the party and our community –both locally and nationally–is making our jobs as citizen advocates and activists more challenging. Anyone interested in the health and future of the Democratic Party is encouraged to attend.

What’s Next is organizing this event as an opportunity for democrats and progressives to join together in civil discourse and share their feelings about their top issues and priorities and find meaningful ways to connect to the party.

Constituents will have an opportunity to hear from and be heard by their peers. We will sort attendees into groups and encourage discussion on a variety of issues and give opportunities to share stories with each other. Each group will have a facilitator to guide the conversation and uphold group norms, with an opportunity for each group to present their discussion to the larger group. This event will use civil discourse (guidelines and group norms provided on site) to develop a platform for real people to share their concerns, ideas, and hopes for the future of the party. Representatives from local Democratic organizations will be present to listen, share updates on their work, and provide opportunities to get involved.
