The People vs The Politicians – Film & Discussion

Fix Democracy First and the Meaningful Movies Project presents:

“The People vs the Politicians” – Documentary by Hedrick Smith

Join us for the very special event to watch and discuss the new film by Hedrick Smith and Northern Lights Productions.

For every flaw in our politics – dark money, vote suppression, gerrymandering, Citizens United, Mega-Donors, hyper-partisanship – grassroots reformers are putting solutions to work at the state level. This is not a story of left vs right, Republicans vs Democrats. It’s a story of the People vs the Politicians, of We the People rising up against fat cats and entrenched power – and winning.

The film features several successful people-powered efforts from around the country, including a segment on Washington State’s Initiative 735 grassroots campaign led by WAmend, that made Washington the 18th state to call for a U.S. Constitutional amendment to overturn decisions like Citizens United.

Evening Itinerary:

• Special Reception with Hedrick Smith – 6 pm – Ticket $35*
Mix ‘n Mingle with Hedrick at a pre-event reception. Ticket cost includes a signed copy of Smith’s latest book, “Who Stole the American Dream?,” delicious hors d’oeuvres, wine, beer, soft drinks, plus admission to the main event.
