Kitsap Welcomes All Lighted Sign Vigil at BI and Kingston Ferry

April 28, 2019 @ 6:00 pm

This is a special simple sharing of the message “Kitsap Welcomes All” near (first) the Bainbridge Island ferry terminal and (then) the Kingston ferry terminal on Sunday, April 28th.
.
This is not a massive rally; rather, it’s an opportunity to share our message through the engaging use of some lit signs recently created at the April 19th Kitsap Community Solidarity Popup Training (https://www.facebook.com/events/348501012448325/). Would you like to be part of holding the message? Read on for details, and RSVP to the event to stay in the loop.
.
As we continue our local efforts to engage our Kitsap neighbors in understanding (and challenging) xenophobia, these moments of sharing a message of welcome in creative ways are one piece of the puzzle!
.
WHAT WILL HAPPEN ON SUNDAY, APRIL 28th?
***6:00 p.m.
>>GATHER IN WAYPOINT PARK.
Look for Martitha May and Carollynn Zimmers holding a “Gather Here” sign. They will get everyone organized. NOTE: Waypoint Park is the park across the street (Winslow Way E) from Bainbride Island Museum of Art. Parking can be found at Waypoint Park itself or in the parking lot of BIMA, which closes at 6 p.m.
***6:10 p.m.
>>MOVE OUT TO SW CORNER HWY 305 & WINSLOW WAY E
We’ll move out to the sidewalk to hold up our lit letters in the view of drivers and walkers arriving to board the 6:30 p.m. and the 7:15 p.m. boats to Seattle.
*** 7:10 p.m.
>>PACK UP AND GO TO KINGSTON!
We’ll pack up and get on the road, so as to arrive in time to share our message with people taking the 8:20 p.m. boat out of Kingston!
***7:45 p.m.
>>>GATHER ON THE SIDEWALK ALONG HWY 104 BY THE FENCE OF KOLA KOLE PARK
Look for Martitha May and Carollynn Zimmers holding a “Gather Here” sign. As HWY 104 approaches the Kingston ferry terminal, it splits into a “Y” of multiple lanes. Immediately before the “Y,” there is a black metal fence along Kola Kole park. We’ll line up along the sidewalk of HWY 104 with that fence at our backs. We will be visible to the people who arrive at about 8:10 on the boat from Edmonds as well as those who are leaving on the 8:20 boat out of Kingston.
