Myths and Facts About Washington’s Election Security (Free Event)

October 20, 2022 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

from https://classes.bainbridgebarn.org/event-4963563:

As the November midterms approach, rumors and concerns about election security are as rampant as ever. Nationally, only 16% of respondents said they are “very confident” in the country’s elections systems in a recent CNN poll.

Where are these rumors coming from? Should Washington voters be worried about election security? Join our nonpartisan panel of experts as they discuss the state’s election landscape and answer your election-related questions.

Meet the Panel:

Seattle Times Senior Political Writer Jim Brunner is an award-winning journalist with more than 20 years of experience covering Washington state politics and government.

Paul Andrews is the Kitsap County Auditor and a certified Elections Administrator. As the Chief Election official, he is responsible for all elections in Kitsap County.

Rachel E. Moran
is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Washington’s Center for an Informed Public. Her research explores the role of trust in digital information environments, especially in the spread of misinformation and disinformation.

The panel will be moderated by journalist Jenn Hemmingsen, a former The Seattle Times editorial writer and member of the BARN Writers’ Studio steering committee. Brought to you by the BARN Writers’ Studio and the Bainbridge Public Library.
