No LNG Resolution – Pack Seattle City Council!

February 21, 2018 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Recently Seattle Council Member Kshama Sawant introduced a Resolution for the city of Seattle to join the stand against Puget Sound Energy’s proposed LNG fracked gas facility currently being build at the Port of Tacoma even though they lack proper permits.

The Puyallup Tribe was not consulted and stand in opposition to the massive fossil fuel infrastructure being built on their ancestral lands. Moving forward with this project violates The Medicine Creek Treaty, threatens the already dwindling Salmon population, and puts the health and safety of residents at risk.

A few weeks ago the City Council decided to move the resolution to Juarez’s Native Communities Committee.

We need lots of support and a packed council chamber as the Resolution is brought before this committee!!! We need to fight for the strongest language possible as we stand with The Puyallup Tribe demanding that treaties be honored, that the health and safety of the community come before corporate greed, and that we stand up for future generations by opposing new, unecessary fossil fuel infrastructure.

Public comment begins at 2pm (arrive by 1:45 to sign up if you want to speak). Followed by the committee addressing the language of the Resolution.
