We are excited to announce that we will be hosting our annual Hiroshima, Nagasaki Weekend of Remembrance and Action. This year’s theme is “NO TO WAR, NO TO NUCLEAR WEAPONS”.

The event takes place on August 7th through Monday, August 8th. This will allow people to attend the From Hiroshima to Hope lantern ceremony at Seattle’s Green Lake on the evening of Saturday, August 6th.

Larry Kerschner, poet Laureate for Veterans for Peace, Rachel Corrie Chapter, will facilitate a poetry workshop, and Tom Rawson will give a concert on Sunday.

There will be a vigil and nonviolent direct action on the morning of August 8th at the Bangor Trident nuclear ballistic missile submarine base. People will gather at 6:00 AM, and there will be a flash mob performance of the iconic song “War! What is it good for?”.
