Postcards on Wednesday

March 13 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

Indivisible Bainbridge Island is writing postcards upstairs at the Town & Country, at 2:00 pm on Wednesdays. Normally, we write to voters in those 18 congressional districts that Biden won in 2020 but were won by a Republican in 2022.

But for March, we’re writing for Ruben Gallego, currently representing Arizona’s 3rd Congressional district but now running to win Kyrsten Sinema’s U.S. Senate seat in 2024! Sinema has announced that she is not running for re-election given that the polls have her in third place with Gallego in the lead and election denier, Kari Lake (R), in second place. Even worse (for Sinema), donations to her campaign have dried up! Alas, it appears she gets to keep the money that has already been donated to her.

Democrats currently have a 51-49 majority in the Senate. Joe Manchin (D) is not running for re-election, which means that if Democrats don’t pick up another seat, at best, Democrats and Republicans will be evenly divided in 2025. In the State of the Union address, President Biden asked that we give him a Democratic Congress so he can sign a bill to make Roe v. Wade the law of the land again. A victory for Gallego will go a long way toward getting that done!

Plus, Manchin and Sinema were the most unwilling Democrats to change the filibuster in any way to pass voting rights and reproductive health care legislation. Gallego favors filibuster reform.

Can’t make it to Postcards on Wednesday? You can also get “Donut Forget to Vote” postcards from Holly’s front porch near the intersection of Finch and Wyatt. Email Kathy for directions.

We are totally self-funded. Please help us with stamps or reimbursements for stamps if you can.

Hope to see you there!
