Protest Safety and Tactical Non-Violence: Session 1

Are you a leader in your activist group? Does your group plan to lead or attend rallies or marches? Join us for the first of a 4-part training course in protest safety and conflict de-escalation. Learn the principles of tactical non-violence in a hands-on class specifically designed guide organizers of civil disobedience events in acquiring basic skills for engaging in effective non-violent activism. This is a “teach the teachers” class that will support your ability to teach other members of your group tactical non-violence.

Subsequent classes will be held December 19, January 9, and January 16. The course fee is $200 (4-class series). The instructor will be Joanne Factor, a strong feminist and highly-respected instructor who has been leading classes in empowerment self-defense since 1994. Our curriculum will focus on learning and applying basic skills (eye contact, communicating boundaries, using distance, etc) though role-playing.
