Research for Resistance!

April 15, 2018 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

With over 2,000 signers, the PNW Pledge of Resistance is a powerful tool to resist fossil fuels and uphold climate justice in our region. From shutting down fracked gas facilities to bank blockades, we are a community ready to resist the expansion of fossil fuels and the unfolding climate crisis with direct action and civil disobedience.

In this workshop you will be introduced to the Freedom of Information Act and how to use records requests in strategic planning for campaigns and direct action. You will be guided through a series of steps that will result in completing and submitting a records request to an agency of your choice. We will examine and utilize different types of strategies, use of words and phrases that have been found to be effective in strengthening a request. Start brainstorming about what information would help you make a strategic plan and who holds the records that contain that information. There will be additional discussion on other resources for research and intel gathering. Bring a laptop and a curious mind.
