Saturday Skill-Up: Organizing and Outreach

How do we build our power to win the transformative change we need? By organizing! Join us for a day-long set of trainings to sharpen your organizing skills. The entire day will be full of practice; come ready to learn by doing!
10:30-12:30: Canvassing
We’ll focus on learning canvassing skills that you can use in the campaign for Seattle’s Green New Deal, but that will also transfer to any campaign canvass.
1:30-5:00: Organizing and Outreach
What’s the difference between organizing and mobilizing? How do you start a conversation, continue it, and tap into someone’s needs and interests to draw them into the work? We’ll cover organizing skills and analysis to help you strengthen your organizing and activism in your community and beyond.

Please register in advance. The registration fee covers costs for space and food, but no one will be turned way for lack of funds.

All attendees: Help us make this a space open to all by avoiding scented products, including scented soap, hair products, lotion, and fragrance.
TRANSPORTATION
The 2100 Building is located on 24th Avenue South between South Hill and South Walker St. It is one block east of Rainier Avenue South, in the same neighborhood as Remo Borracchini’s Bakery and Mutual Fish.
Transit: It is served by bus lines #4, 7, 9, 48, and 106, and is an estimated 15-minute walk from the Beacon Hill Light Rail Station.

Driving Directions:
• Get onto Interstate-90
• Take the Rainier Avenue South exit
• At the end of the ramp, turn right onto Rainier Avenue South
• Turn left onto South Massachusetts Street
• Turn right onto 24th Avenue South
• The building is several blocks down, just past South Hill Street
Parking: On-street parking is available in the surrounding area, and in a street-level garage accessed through the alley. We also provide parking in the fenced area across the street from the building next to the pharmacy.
