Seattle March for the Dead • March & Vigil

From Washington Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival :

This is a march and vigil to commemorate those we have lost to COVID-19 and to call on policy makers at every level to do more to protect us and our families – especially those who are most vulnerable and marginalized – from this disease.

This event is MASK-MANDATORY and will take place entirely outdoors. We ask that participants self-manage and gently help one another to stay 6′ distant from those not in their households at all times.

Please wear white and bring candles, flowers, and photos of the dead to lay at our memorial.

Nearly 170,000 Americans have lost their lives to COVID-19. Our grandparents, our fathers and mothers, our sisters and brothers, our neighbors and friends.

But the disease alone did not kill them.

The pandemic has brought into sharp relief a number of stark realities that plague this nation.

WE DEMAND:

1) Immediate monetary relief to every American for the duration of this crisis.

2) Equitable access to health care and services.

3) The release of all detained immigrants and incarcerated people. An end to deportations.

4) Fully fund USPS and end the sabotage of our voting systems. Make mail in paper ballots the standard for this fall.

5) Stop defunding WHO.

6) Support international nonprofit development of a vaccine accessible to all.

7) Sound Federal and state policy based in science.

8) Donald Trump must resign.

9) Close the schools. Equitable access to technology for distance learning for all students.

10) 50-state mask mandate for all indoor public spaces or when unable to distance in outdoor spaces.
