Standing Up for Women’s Reproductive Rights on Bainbridge Island

We need to talk about what we can do here on Bainbridge Island about reproductive rights, so let’s meet over Zoom. Here are some things:

WA needs to do at least 4 things:

1/ elect and recognize officials who agree with women’s bodily autonomy

2/ protect and enable those who come to WA for abortions

3/ protect people’s rights to their digital information so that they cannot be prosecuted for seeking care out of state.

4/ work with national groups on their initiatives

These are the things that we can locally do:

1/ Check that our electeds are clear about protecting women’s reproductive rights – Barbara has done this. We need our council to make a resolution. Holly is working on that.

2/ Hold rallies close to the election to highlight this issue in this area

3/ Have a movie showing to clarify the issue

4/ Encourage folks to write letter to the editor about the issue

5/ Canvass/phone bank and text bank for candidates on this issue
