Tacoma LNG: Trial Update

April 19, 2021 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Puget Sound Energy’s Tacoma LNG facility was built without consultation or consent from the Puyallup Tribe, and before it had received all of its permits. We know this facility endangers our health, safety, and climate, threatening Indigenous, Brown, and Black bodies first and worst. The Puyallup Tribe is steadfast in their opposition to the facility and our community continues to follow their leadership and to fight with them.
EarthJustice is representing a number of health/environmental organizations on an appeal of the air permit. The Puyallup Tribe is also appealing this permit. The cases will be heard back to back for two weeks starting on April 12th. Join our community as we send hopeful energy towards these proceedings. We are powerful when we gather, even on zoom.
April 19th – Recap of EarthJustice’s case and action items you can take during the second week of hearings!
April 26th – Recap of the Puyallup Tribe’s case and what happens next!
Take Action Now: Puget Sound Energy is trying to get permission from the Utilities & Transportation Commission to begin using the facility on May 1st… months before the verdict in these legal appeals will be decided. This facility would not be ready to be operational yet if PSE hadn’t started construction more than two years before receiving the necessary permits. Click the link below to personalize an email urging the Commission to stand on the right side of history, honor Indigenous sovereignty, and protect Washington residents, by waiting for the court’s verdict and ordering a public hearing to determine if this project is actually in the public’s interest.
