What’s Next for Reproductive Justice?

It’s been 101 days since SCOTUS overturned Roe v. Wade, declaring that the constitutional right to abortion, upheld for nearly a half century, no longer exists. In the wake of that decision, 14 states have enacted full bans on abortion, including, in some cases, no exceptions for rape or incest. In some states, doctors providing and individuals seeking such services face criminal charges.

About half of states are expected to enact bans on abortion or other gestational limits on the procedure. In some of these states, abortion remains legal for now as courts determine whether existing or new bans can take effect. In the rest of the states, abortion is legal but may still be restricted, or access may otherwise be limited.
