Earth Day Counter-Military and Climate Action at the Pentagon’s Largest Gas Station

April 23 @ 10:00 am – 3:00 pm

Free

Please join us for an action on the day after Earth Day to shine a light on the U.S. military’s Manchester Fuel Depot, which happens to be the Pentagon’s largest single-site fuel terminal in the United States, providing military-grade fuel, as well as lubricants and additives for vessels of the Navy, other military vehicles and even to other nations’ militaries, including Canada.

The Department of Defense is the single largest consumer of energy in the US, and in fact, the world’s single largest institutional consumer of petroleum. Since 2001, the DOD has consistently consumed between 77 and 80 percent of all US government energy consumption.

Meet at the Manchester State Park Day Use Area by 10:00 a.m. We have reserved Group Picnic Area 3, which is located down by the beach and restrooms.

Admission to the State Park requires a Discovery Pass or payment of the daily entrance fee. You can park in the Day Use area, a short walk to the picnic site.

Bring signs and/or banners that express your opposition to burning fossil fuels and using our taxpayer dollars for death and destruction of our environment. We will bring our large banner that reads, “THE EARTH IS OUR MOTHER, TREAT HER WITH RESPECT“.

After hearing a speaker or two, and some music, we will walk a short distance, about 3/4 of a mile, to the Manchester Fuel Depot gate, for a brief Flash Mob event and photo opportunity to highlight the impact of Manchester Fuel Depot.
