Intro to Security Culture

August 11, 2020 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

from 350:

We live in the 21st century, the age of information.

As activists we are often the focus of unwanted information gathering attempts by the state, and others. Through surveillance, doxxing, trumped up charges, grand juries, and much more; this information is used to harass, intimidate and suppress individuals and movements.

So, let’s explore the ways that we communicate and share information, with an eye to keeping ourselves and each other safe every step of the way.

Topics include:

Digital security
Building trusting working relationships with other activists
What to do if contacted by police/feds
Understanding tactics of surveillance, and movement suppression
Exploring risk and one’s role as an activist
Lessons learned from past local movements: the good and the bad
Building your movement’s own culture of security
