Rally for Disabled + Dreamers 2/6/18

February 6, 2018 @ 11:45 am - 12:30 pm

Seattle Indivisible has kindly invited us to join their Tuesday Rallies downtown in order to fight for Dreamers before the Feb 8 deadline when the government runs out of money AGAIN. It’s IMPERATIVE that the Democratic party stands strong against the racist agenda of this administration. Julie Negrin will be sharing some updates on what’s happening and will be with Alycia Ramirez who has been working tirelessly on this issue!

Seattle Indivisible has an excellent speaker from ADAPT which is a national grass-roots non-profit that organizes disability rights activists to engage in nonviolent direct action, including civil disobedience, to assure the civil and human rights of people with disabilities to live in freedom.

SOME BACKGROUND:
On 9/5/17 Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program was terminated. This Obama-era program provides relief from deportation for an estimated 800,000 young immigrants. Since 9/5/17, over 16,000 Dreamers – and 1K per week – are at risk for being picked up by ICE and deported. They came here as kids! Many GOP members of Congress support Dreamers. We need pressure both sides of the aisle to pass a CLEAN DREAM ACT NOW. We will be sharing information on how to fight for Dreamers soon. Stay tuned for phone numbers. We need to let both sides of the aisle know that they can not hold Dreamers hostage in exchange for wasteful policies!!
