Telephone Action to Stop New Trident
January 22 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
In support of the call to celebrate January 22, the day that the United Nations Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW) enters into force (EIF Day), which the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN) describes as “the beginning of the end of nuclear weapons,” the No New Tridents Coalition is calling for a telephone action directed at Electric Boat in Groton, CT, builder of the original Ohio class Trident, and now preparing for the construction of the next generation ballistic missile submarine threat, the Columbia class.
We are asking that between the hours of 10 am and noon on the 22nd, people telephone the following numbers at Electric Boat:
Main Number: 860-433-3000
Human Resources: 888-231-9662
Phone as many times as you are able.
For as long as the line remains open, demand that EB abide by the treaty’s call to abolish all nuclear weapons and to cancel production of the Columbia submarine. Although the Treaty has not been ratified by the United States, the fact remains that the nuclear weapons in this country’s possession will have been declared illegal.
You may refer to the Ban Treaty fact sheet below.
