Bystander Intervention Training

April 26, 2018 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Bystander Intervention involves witnessing and peacefully interrupting situations in which there are negative events unfolding for an at-risk person or population. We are hoping to train members of our community and our partner faith communities to learn how to act in situations of Islamophobia, anti-Immigrant actions or hate crimes, and increasingly importantly, to support immigrants during ICE activity/raids.

Please join us for a 2 hour interactive session to learn how to be an active Bystander who supports vulnerable groups. This session will be led by staff members of the Civil Rights Team at the Council on American Islamic Relations-Washington (CAIR-WA); CAIR is a non-profit that works to defend civi rights, advocate for, and fight anti-Muslim hate. While their focus is defending and empowering American Muslims, the training provided will be applicable across multiple contexts and multiple populations.

Coffee and light snacks will be provided.

Please consider $10-$20 donation to contribute to the honorarium for CAIR-WA staff, or as feasible, per attendee. Donations will be collected at the training rather than online.

Please message us if you are interested in childcare.
